Other notes and comments…

The Britannica book was fairly widely reviewed. Here are the reviews I felt were most interesting:

The Times Literary Supplement: A review by Robert DeMaria.

The Claremont Review: I very much appreciated Richard Brookhiser’s comments.

The Wall Street Journal: Joseph Epstein’s review occupied nearly a full page.

The Washington Post: a review by Michael Dirda.

The Chicago Tribune: a review/feature by Donald Liebenson.

The Boston Globe‘s reviewer was Matthew Price.

National Review: A review by David Bahr.

Paste Magazine‘s Jeff Milo seemed to get the idea.

In fact, the least encouraging comment was by an anonymous reviewer for Publisher’s Weekly who thought the book contained too much information. PW’s rival, Kirkus, was less challenged by the book.
